We are reading a book called The Mary Celeste by Jane Yolen.
It is an unsolved mystery, but we are trying to change that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Add your thinking to help us solve the mystery and rember to cite evidence.

HW for the Week of August 29th!
We need to read 20 min. every day. We also have to work on 1 reading response throughout the week. our reading response this week asks us to make connections to what we have read. We know how to do this, and we can even decide if our connection is worth $0.01 or $100.00! We are going to learn about matter in science this week. Ask us about matter. We also have a math Mad Minutes test on Friday. Our math problem of the week is about finding the perimeter of a rectangle. It is due Friday, too. All of this should be in our planners.

Update for the week of 8-22-2011
Hi! I'm the new class blogger, R. I have 2 bunnys Midnight & thumper. I LOVE working on the computer.
Remember: Wednesday is early release day. We get out of school at 12:25 pm. Check your child's planner and fill in the blank where it says "Where am I going a 12:25 pm?"
Homework this week is: Read 20 min. every day. Sketch-and-Stretch is due Friday. P.O.W. (problem of the week) is due Friday. We need to study for our Mad Minutes math test Friday. Mrs. Forseth suggested that we practice 10 problems each night on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night until we know them lightning fast! Then, set a timer for 3 minutes and take the practice test Thursday night.
I'll be back later this week to tell you what we did this week, and I'll always post homework for the upcoming week on Mondays.
Bye for now!

Welcome to Third Grade!
Hello Third Graders! I am very excited to be your teacher this year. We will have a lot of fun learning together, I just know it!
There are many new things that you will learn this year. Some of them will be pretty easy to learn. Some of the things will be a little tough to master and you might make some mistakes. Don't worry about it! Did you know that making mistakes is an important part of the learning process? You might even catch Mrs. Forseth making mistakes this year.
Reply to this post and let me know what you would like to learn about this year. I have two very important rules about blogging, however. Never, ever write your full name on the internet AND always ask a parent before you post! So, go ahead and leave a comment for me with your initials only. I'll be able to figure out who you are and I will use your ideas to plan some of our lessons this year. I'll see you soon!
Love,
Mrs. Forseth
